Clean Water Saves Lives

FRANK Water funds clean water projects in developing countries. Since it started life in 2005, FRANK Water has funded 86 clean water projects in Africa & India, providing access to safe, clean drinking water for some of the poorest people in the world. Yet there are still almost a billion people who lack access to safe water. As a result, 2.5 million adults and children die every year from disease related to poor water supply, sanitation and hygiene.

FRANK Water Ltd was set up by Katie Alcott after she contracted dysentery from drinking dirty water during her travels through India. Once she recovered, she promised she’d do something about the problem if she ever could. In 2005, FRANK Water was born. Katie raised her first few pounds by selling her own ethical brand of bottled spring water which is still widely available today. By responsibly satisfying the UK demand for bottled water, Katie could provide access to clean water for people who needed it the most. Water for Water.

Today, there are five knowledgeable and passionate members of full-time staff as well as a team of volunteers and interns. FRANK Water has its own registered charity (FRANK Water Projects) that receives direct donations from energetic and enthusiastic individuals and a few big-hearted corporates. To this day, profits from sales of FRANK bottled water continue to contribute to clean water projects.

FRANK Water works with in-country NGOs to implement its clean water projects. Innovative technology, awareness campaigns and education are integral to every project. Villagers pay an affordable user fee to cover the cost of the machine operator’s salary and any necessary repairs.

FRANK Water has a clear mission and vision and robust values. It has an active presence on several of the major social media sites. It sends out regular mailers via email. It has a proven track record of success in the field and a direct line of sight to each of its projects. But FRANK Water is still small. To grow in a sustainable way and to have a longer-lasting impact across a wider audience, it must attract further support, both financial and in-kind. It needs expertise and advice to steer it towards the next step.

With help from Noisy Little Monkey, FRANK Water could maximize its existing resources – its team, its experience, its knowledge and its brand, to ensure it stands out from the ever-growing charity crowd so that donors, supporters and volunteers choose FRANK Water.

“If 90 school buses filled with kindergartners were to crash every day, with no survivors, the world would take notice. But this is precisely what happens every single day because of poor water, sanitation and hygiene.” UNICEF, 22.3.13
