Love Your Air Ambulance
Formed in 2008, we provide an air ambulance service for the counties of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and parts of Wiltshire, serving a population of 2.1m people. Our helicopter is based at Filton Airfield, just north of Bristol, and is part of the regional 999 emergency response service. We receive no funding from the Government or the National Lottery and that means we rely entirely on the generosity of the people we serve in order to continue operating.
We are one of the very few air ambulances who work to the “gold standard” Critical Care Model, which means rushing a specialist doctor and paramedic to the scene; Essentially we are a flying Accident and Emergency Department. The team fly seven days a week, 365 days a year and attend over 100 incidents per month. We provide one of the busiest air ambulances in the UK. The result? One patient in five – a patient otherwise expected to die – survives.
We are currently trying to raise £250,000 of additional funds for a new Eurocopter EC 135 helicopter in order to replace the ageing Bölkow 105 model that we currently use as part of a campaign called ‘Movin’ on Up’. A new helicopter would attend to patients four minutes faster, would allow a mother and child to fly to hospital together and would allow more space for the patient, equipment and mid-air treatment.
As the youngest air ambulance charity in the country, £9,000 worth of Digital Marketing would benefit us greatly and would help us to spread the message about the work that we do and hopefully help us raise funds that will allow us to continue operating and providing emergency care for the people of our region.
You never know when you might require the services of our air ambulance, so please vote for us and help us to help YOU!
