You’re probably reading the word ‘Kimye’ and thinking NO THANKS, but don’t be like that people! We can all learn some valuable life lessons from this power couple…
Holding one of the top spots for Instagram followers (60+ million and counting, yeah gurl), Kim Kardashian West has proven that she’s more than just a girl with very fortunate assets who got famous from a sex tape. Last year, she won GQ’s Woman of the Year Award and now has her own emoji brand - Kimoji - which broke the app store on it's initial release just a few months ago. Four for you Kim K, you go Kim K!
And love him or hate him, Kanye West (aka ‘Yeezus’ or ‘Yeezy’), has had huge success on social media. His follower to following ratio is exceptional. 18.5 million people follow him and he's only following 1 person (can you guess who?!). Pretty impressive - although let's not forget, he's also sold over 32 million albums worldwide and won an impressive 21 Grammys, making him one of the most awarded artists of ALL TIME. He’s also currently designing his third clothing line from his Yeezy collection.
There’s no denying that combined (or even individually) this power couple are a serious social media force. Here are 5 lessons I think we all can learn from their social media output:
1. Want the likes? Dress well.
What would you rate the outfit you’re wearing today? 7/10, would not wear again? Go home and change. Only joking! But seriously, the way you present yourself can tell someone a lot about you. And, okay - for some people, clothes are just something that you wear, but for others it’s a way of expressing themselves. Your style is one of the first things people see when they stalk your social profiles, so if you want to impress or get noticed, you need to let your outfit do the talking. How else do you think Kim got to 60+ million followers?!
If you need any inspiration just Google Kim or Kanye - their dress sense is usually on point. Well, ignoring this fashion mistake.

2. Team work makes the dream work.
Kanye West has an impressive Twitter following of 18.5mil people. He absolutely slays on Twitter. He's grown his following through shameless arguments, his justified cockiness (which we can't help but love) and his willingless to take social media risks. His actions have given him the spotlight, and he takes full advantage of this for nothing more than a cheeky bit of self-promotion.
Kim Kardashian West on the other hand has a exceptional Twitter following of 40.2 million people. Her crazy strong selfie game and socially approachable demeanour with fans has gained her this seriously applaudable following, She's smart, tech-savvy and quick to get on digital hypes. Basically, she's THE social media queen.
But combined, Kimye's Twitter followers total to an impressive 58.7mil. U Jel? Because we are. They're two extremely successful individuals who have turned haters into followers. Whilst they haven't relied on each other to gain this audience, together they are the ultimate social #squadgoals. Kim outwardly supports Kanye's projects on social and Kim is the only account that Yeezy follows. So you can succeed alone, but ultimately, team work makes the dream work.

3. There really is no such thing as bad publicity.
There’s a reason why this phrase is such a cliché. We’ve all done things in our past we’re not particularly proud of. Just take a look at the Kardashian-Wests! Despite a ‘home movie’ all over the internet and interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the VMA’s (I agree, though, Queen B should’ve won), they’re doing some serious slaying!
What I'm trying to say is, it’s not the end of the world if you’ve done something you regret. In fact, you should embrace it and use it to your advantage. Would Kim Kardashian West really have her fame and fortune without her irresponsible actions?
Kanye’s most recent Twitter hysteria is the perfect example of this. His feud with Wiz Khalifa simply allowed himself to promote his newest album. He’s shameless and his twitter followers (me included) love it.
New album title, The Life of Pablo

4. Put your fingers in lots of pies.
We’re all guilty of day dreaming about what it would be like if we tried this or did that . . . but life’s too short to be thinking like this, people! Whether it’s selling homemade jewellery on a weekend, or running a small business on the side, it’s good to have your fingers in lots of pies - as Kimye have so successfully demonstrated.
Kim balances being a reality TV star, a mother, a devoted wife and a savvy business woman in 24 hours every day of the year with her Kimojis, her game and, more recently, her and her sisters' new website and app. The same goes for Kanye. He’s a father, a husband, a musician, fashion designer and a social media king.
As superficial as they may be, they’ve got an undeniably good set of business heads between them. If they can do it, so can you, so give it a try! You never know what might happen…
5. Love yourself!
Forget making loads of money or causing a storm on Twitter - if Mr and Mrs West do anything well, it’s loving themselves. Now this is probably the main reason why they’re such controversial characters, but you have to give it to them, there are absolutely no insecurities in that family! They exude confidence and power - and there’s definitely nothing wrong with having a bit of those! If you don’t learn to love yourself then what chance does anyone else have at it? So in the words of Justin Bieber, you should go and love yourself (but not too much).
I hope you’ve found this useful and possibly even realised that there’s no shame in loving a bit of Kimye! Do let us know if your opinion of them has changed by tweeting us @noisymonkey (or you can tell us on the DL if you prefer - I won’t tell anyone!)
